Stakeholder Mapping & Communication Planning

Map who matters to your project and plan how to keep them aligned and informed.

What it is

This skill helps you identify everyone who affects or is affected by your project, then organize them by how much power and interest they have. You get a clear grid showing who needs close management, who just needs updates, and who to monitor. The output is a detailed communication plan showing exactly when and how to engage each person or group.

What it does

  • Identifies all relevant stakeholders — executives, team leads, partners, and end users
  • Classifies each stakeholder by their power to influence decisions and their level of interest
  • Places stakeholders on a Power × Interest grid with tailored engagement strategies per quadrant
  • Generates a communication plan table with frequency, channels, and key messages for each stakeholder
  • Flags potential conflicts between stakeholders and suggests alignment strategies

Use it when

  • You're launching a new product or feature and need to align multiple teams
  • You're preparing a roadmap presentation and want to know who to involve when
  • You're managing a cross-functional project with lots of dependencies
  • You need to organize stakeholder engagement for a major initiative
